With the advancement of COVID-19, it is also possible to observe the advance of food and nutritional insecurity in Brazil. Thus, we see an increasing reconfiguration of civil society to meet the urgent demand for food shortages with mobilization actions for food assistance. Therefore, imbued with the questioning of how to eat in the communities during the pandemic, the objective of this analytical essay is to reflect on the meanings of the actions for food assistance of the social movement Fazendinhando of the Jardim Colombo community in the current context of the COVID- 19 from the concept of commensality. The Fazendinhando Movement has been articulating and working so that the community has, especially during this pandemic period, food on the table. In the past few months, many groups have been observed, both of residents of the communities and of people outside it, organizing themselves to take food to those who, at this moment mainly, are not having access or are having difficulties having it. The complexity seen in the act of overflowing in the sharing of food transforms the relationship we have with those around us even if we do not eat together.
